Welcome to the website of The Minstrel Boys living history group. We are an Irish group that seeks to recreate the lives of Irish men and women who emigrated to the United States during the period of the American Civil War (1861-65). We are based at the

Ulster American Folk Park.

The name "The Minstrel Boys" comes from the famous Irish song of the same name which became a firm favourite with Irish soldiers fighting for both the Federal and Confederate states.

The Minstrel Boys is a member of Ulster Federation of Living History Groups.

In Memory: John Hopper

The 4th July Independence Celebrations at the Folk Park were dedicated to John, a member of the Minstrel Boys who past away earlier this year.

Many of the Minstrel Boys wore black armbands and a short service of remembrance was held on the Sunday morning.

A first rate Living Historian who loved traveling to the Folk Park, John will be sadly missed.
