Recreating the role of the Irish in the American Civil War 1861-65

1. Left: The morning of the battle, a bugler rouses the troops of the 8th Alabama from sleep.

 

Right:  In both Federal and Confederate lines the weary soldiers shake themselves into ranks and files, apprehensive of what the day might bring.

2.  Left: Two new recruits to the 28th Mass. wait anxiously as the sound of battle draws nearer. For both it’s their first time under fire.

 

Above: A squad is send forward to establish the position of the enemy.

 

Right: They come under fire from Reb skirmishers.
